Are Mondays really tough?

I’m an optimistic person in general, but I also feel Monday stress sometimes. There may be some explanation why can it be a real stress to our body or mind. Some say, that even blood pressure can be higher at the beginning of the week. And it is even worse after a long weekend or a holiday.

I’ve had various experience. I had lovely Mondays and I had awful ones, too. The difference was only about my work. Lovely Mondays belonged to a job, where I enjoyed the tasks. It was exciting, challenging and it made feel to be really alive. It may sound unbelievable, but I was anxious to go work the next day or after the weekend. Also, I was reading extra pieces of information about job-related topics at home. I had to make decisions and take responsibility. I had the feeling, that my work is important and there is a result if I do something good (or bad). On the other hand, I had some places, where awful Mondays happened. Those days I didn’t like my job. I was in a situation, when I felt I could do something more or something different. I felt, I learned and experienced more than that.

The problem is that it’s not so easy to find the right job for ourselves. Especially if we are in a situation, when we cannot afford searching for long months. Living costs, bills, children cannot wait. What can we do to make Mondays better when changing our job cannot happen?

  • Enjoy the weekend. It sounds obvious, but it’s not. Some can spend the weekend just being lazy and when you don’t do anything, time seems to go faster. After you will ask yourself: what happened to the weekend? Go out, make a short trip with your family, meet friends or do something you really like. Find a hobby. Maybe you can develop your knowledge and you can do it for a living one day.
  • Make Mondays special. Create your own rituals for the morning and for the day.
  • Prepare for Mondays. Make the cleaning and cooking on Sunday.
  • Make goals. Every time, when you feel Monday stress, remember your goal. Remember why do you work for.

Mondays can be stressful, but at the same time it’s a new beginning. If you want to make a change, you can always start to work for it on a Monday. It can be the first day of a new direction.
