Do you travel with family?
Travelling with whom?
When it’s about travelling, I love all kinds. I love to go alone and do everything in my own rhythm, I love to go with friends to do some crazy stuff and I love to go with my family, too. Some people don’t really like to travel with family, especially with their parents. Maybe they don’t feel as free as they wish, because there’s always someone to keep an eye on them? Maybe. I think it’s a really good option not only to relax, but also to learn something. Learn? Yes, I mean it. When you travel with your family members, you are probably in a different age. It means different priorities, different energy levels, different interests. You learn to find the way to enjoy yourself without forcing your will to others. You learn to make a deal in order to let everyone enjoy the holiday.
Travelling with family
I often travel with my Mum and sometimes also with my nephew. When it’s the three of us on a vacation, it means three generations with totally different preferences. My Mum would be happy even if it’s just relaxing. Have an alcohol-free cocktail on the beach, in a comfy sunbed, listen to the waves and have a nice chat about whatever. My nephew on the other hand finds it extremely boring. He is all right with being in the sea and enjoying the water. Even if that would be the only one program. Well, I am the worst. Wherever I go, I wish to visit as many places as possible. Even if it means travelling by bus for long hours just to see some must-see places. It could be kind of stressful for them especially in the summer heat. I had to understand that and find the way of spending amazing time together without anyone forcing anything, yet everyone gets what they wish.
So what to do then?
We are not really the persons to go back to the same place year after year. It may happen, but we prefer to visit some new countries time after time. It means, that maybe we are there now and never again. That’s why I try to see as many things as possible. There’s the chance, so let’s do it. To respect my Mum’s and my Nephew’s choice, I always make a plan. If we go for 6 days (without the first and the last days which are getting to our destination/home), I choose only 3 extra programs for visiting the country’s sights. One day sightseeing, one day relaxing, just hanging around at the beach. If I have the chance, I always chose the furthest sight for the first time. When we were in Egypt, we visited Cairo first, because that was the longest trip. Get the hard one done for the first time.
We love to travel and experience together, so we want to respect the others preferences. It’s not a big price for spending amazing time together. To make unforgettable memories.
